Quote Challenge~Day 1 (Stephen King)

Hello lovely readers and followers! I’ve been nominated for a fun challenge by the lovely Loluwaand. Please go check out her awesome blog when you get the chance! Basically, I choose one favorite quote a day for three days and then nominate others to join in on the fun 🙂

Lately I’ve been burying my nose in the book On Writing by Stephen King. It’s basically a memoir and writing guide by the great American horror author. One of my mentors gave me this book for my birthday, and I am in love with it. Although I am not in no way as talented as Stephen King, I find that I can relate to his approach to writing fiction.

As many of you may know, I am working on my first novel. Actually, it’s my second. The first one never made it past the first draft because I decided that for right now it’s just for me. But this current one will definitely be published next year (Lord willing)!

Anyway, there are many awesome quotes from King’s inspirational book, but this one is definitely a favorite. As an artist, sometimes it seems like life is what inspires your craft. While this may be true, I think that art is what inspires life.

Whenever I feel sad, anxious, or joyful, writing is the perfect way for me to channel my emotions. Of course I go to God in prayer, but often times I will still feel that gentle tug to do some creative writing. Writing is my therapy, and I’m sure that many of you can relate.

Whatever art you create, whether it be writing, painting, drawing, sculpting, crafting, music, and everything in between, that is the gift God has given you to inspire your own life and the lives of those around you.
