How To Wear Gingham

Happy Friday lovely readers and followers! I’m on spring break, and it feels so good not having to worry about going to class. I’m not traveling to some fancy destination, but I have been spending lots of time with some awesome friends. It always feels nice to catch up with people you don’t get so see that often.

Speaking of spring, there are plenty of trends that are hot right now, and I have so many fashion posts coming up to cover them! I love flipping through all of the spring issues of fashion magazines, gathering inspiration as I sip my coffee and go to my happy place.

Today’s trend is all about Gingham! I must admit, when I titled the collage “Gingham Style,” all I could think about was the Gangnam Style song, and now it’s stuck in my head.

I know that a lot of you may look at this trend and cringe. Isn’t gingham for picnic blankets and little girl Sunday dresses? Not anymore. Gingham has now been updated in a fresh new way, and I can’t think of a better trend to welcome spring than this classic print.

To keep the gingham print updated, follow these tips:
  • You can start off by wearing gingham in small doses, like the sandal pictured above. Accessories are a great way to experiment with any new trend.
  • Wearing gingham in black and white is fresh and unexpected. It also makes it a little less girly.
  • Playing with shapes like ruffles, bell sleeves, oversize dresses, or a cinched waist takes gingham from little girl to grown up.

Gingham is playful, feminine, and classic. Depending on how you wear it, you can make it vintage or modern–edgy or girly. I say this is a trend you can have loads of fun experimenting with this spring.

Let us acknowledge the Lord; let us press on to acknowledge him. As surely as the sun rises, he will appear; he will come to us like the winter rains, like the spring rains that water the earth.’ (Hosea 6:3 NIV)
