Beauty and the Butterfly~Nature Meets Fashion
Happy Friday lovely readers and followers! I’m starting to become somewhat of a nature lover. I don’t know if it’s because of the warmer weather enticing sprouts of nature to suddenly appear, or the fact that I’m addicted to Safari Live (it’s probably a mix of both).
My creative writing professor has noticed this appreciation of the natural world in my writing and recommended that I read Pilgrim at Tinker Creek by Annie Dillard, so I checked it out from my town library. So far it’s a beautiful read, basically poetic non-fiction. Though there really isn’t any major plot to the book, the descriptions of nature are enchanting for those of you who may be looking for that sort of prose.
Anyway, today’s look is all about nature. An enchanted, safari-meets-woods sort of look that anyone can pull off.

Olive green is a hit neutral color this season, and this actually surprised me since darker green hues are usually reserved for fall. I’m not upset in the least bit though, because olive complements most skin tones and hair colors, and it goes well with almost any other color to wear.
I’m obsessed with this top. I mean, who doesn’t love butterflies? My sister and I share a special bond over monarchs. I remember one day when I was in middle school we were sitting in her car parked in front of her apartment with the windows down. Suddenly two monarchs fluttered in and perched themselves on the dash, and it was as if they were just staring at us–until they flew away.
The whimsical, graceful beauty of butterfly prints against an olive or tan neutral is gorgeous. Of course, any animal or insect print–such as zebra, leopard, bumble bee, or ladybug–will do. Keep makeup simple and neutral, using peach powders to give yourself an all natural glow.
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. (2 Corinthians 5:17 NKJV)
