My Thankful List-2020 Edition
Thanksgiving 2020 is upon us! I don’t know about you, but a week ago I was not exactly feeling grateful. Between the COVID-19 spikes, lockdowns, and political unrest, 2020 has been a difficult year for many.
But my perspective changed when I noticed how my blog post from 5 years ago on my gratitude list was trending. It reminded me that even in the midst of a difficult year, we can always choose to be thankful.
Looking back at my old post, I realize that even though some of the things I am thankful for are the same, my life has changed and I have grown in many ways.
If you’ve never written down a gratitude list or journaled what you are thankful for, I encourage you to try it this Thanksgiving. You’ll be surprised at how it lifts your mood and shifts your perspective!
My 2020 Gratitude List from A-Z
Anime I am a nerd who enjoys a good anime/manga–especially romantic comedies. Some of my favorites include Sailor Moon and Your Name.
Bible The truth, encouragement, and grace I receive from reading God’s Word is a healing balm to my soul.
Church Now more than ever I see the value of community and connecting with the body of Christ.
Donuts With sprinkles of course. Who doesn’t love a good donut?!
Everyday My husband thought of this. How amazing is it that I get to wake up to a brand new day full of new mercies (Lamentations 3:22-23).
Friends and family They mean everything to me.
God He is the creator, sustainer, and Savior of the world. I am completely in awe to call Him Father and friend.
Hair I used to suffer from anxiety and obsessive-compulsive tendencies that made me pull out my hair. By God’s grace and healing I have been pull free for over 3 months!
Internet Although technology can be harmful, it’s also a great blessing. I get to have this awesome blog because of the Internet!
Job I’m so thankful to work for a great company with many awesome people.
Knitting This is a hobby I am slowly getting back into. It’s a great way to just relax.
License Although I still battle the side effects of POTS syndrome, I am doing much better! I will have to post about my healing journey soon. I can now drive and have even gotten my license!
Music I love listening to music while I work, write, and drive. I also love singing to worship music.
Novels I’m a book nerd. And it’s so fun to escape into another character’s world.
Owen He’s my amazing husband whom I love dearly. He is my supportive and loyal friend. He is the spark in my heart.
Potato Salad That’s my cat’s name! She is a joy and I’m so glad I get to cuddle with her while working from home.
Quarantine Obviously no one likes being in quarantine. But I find that it forces me to slow down a little and be more intentional. And that is a blessing in itself.
Rings My wedding rings to be exact. They remind me not only of my covenant marriage, but of the covenant God has made with all believers in Christ for eternal life.
Siblings Over the years my relationship with my older brother and sister has changed and grown. I have a greater respect for them as I learn to navigate adulthood.
Travel This was not something I did when I was younger, but lately I have been exploring more places. So far South Carolina is one of my favorite places to visit. I love being able to see both the ocean and mountains.
UV Rays From sunshine of course. I do miss summer!
Vision I’m so thankful for my eyesight. Even though I need glasses, I realize that vision is a beautiful gift.
Writing and Blogging I love pouring out my heart through the calling God gave me.
Xmas Aka…Christmas! I’ve already started playing the music and plan to start decorating soon. I find so much joy in the giving of gifts and remembering the greatest gift of all–Jesus Christ.
You I am thankful for you, lovely reader! Your support of my blog means so much to me. I hope that I can continue to encourage you as well.
Ziti I love Italian food, including pizza, breadsticks, and good pasta!

When our daughter was little and when she was a teenager, I used to wake her up by standing outside her door and melodiously saying “it’s a brand new day!” I doubt she ever was grateful for the wake-up call, but I think it’s a nice memory.
Happy Thanksgiving!

I love that Dan! I think we often take for granted the possibility of a brand new day. It’s always a fresh start!
