Mystery Blogger Award!

Hello lovely readers and followers! Today is a great day because I have been nominated for the Mystery Blogger Award by the creative, funny, and wise blogger,  Dainty M. I love getting these awards, as it shows just how strong the bonds are between writers in the blogging community. Though they may require effort, they are also a blast. So let’s get started!

This award was first initiated by the wonderful Okoto Enigma, and I think it’s a great way to meet other like-minded bloggers and make new friends.

Here are the rules of the award

  1. Display the award logo on your blog.
  2. List the Rules.
  3. Thank the blogger who nominated you and provide a link to their blog.
  4. Mention the creator of the award and provide a link as well.
  5. Tell your readers three things about yourself.
  6. Answer five questions from the nominee.
  7. Nominate anywhere from ten to twenty bloggers.
  8. Notify the bloggers by leaving a comment on their blog.
  9. Ask your nominees any five questions of your choice, including one weird or funny question.
  10. Share the link to your best post.

Three Things About Myself

  1. I’m a daughter of God, and I strive to honor Him everyday.
  2. I firmly believe that napping is a lifestyle.
  3. I love hair and makeup. I’m not the best at it, but it’s a passion of mine.

Dainty M’s Questions

1. What’s your favourite season of the year?

I really love spring and fall. It’s neither too hot nor too cold, and the transition of the seasons is beautiful.

I would get on an airplane and fly to the beach!

3. Soda or juice?

Soda–Diet Coke is my favorite source of caffeine.

Blogger Recognition Award!

The rules of this challenge are

  • Thank the blogger who nominated you and provide a link to their blog.
  • Write a post to show your award.
  • Give a brief story of how your blog started.
  • Give two pieces of advice to new bloggers.

How My Blog Started

I’ve always liked writing, and you can find out more about my writing journey in this post. I didn’t know I wanted to start a blog until after I became a serious Christian at the beginning of college. I started to read blogs by Christian women that helped guide me in my faith. Through these posts I found inspiration, comfort, and the message of who God is. After reading one particular blogger’s posts, I thought that maybe I could do it too!

I used to have a Tumblr in high school, as well as an amateur blog that was more like a diary. These were my creative channels through some of the darkest periods of my eating disorder and depression. I deleted these blogs shortly after starting college because I knew they were only hurting myself and others.

When I created FearfullyWonderfullyMe, I wanted to make a blog that would help heal myself and others. I wanted to give back and help other women grow in their faith (and have a little fun through my fashion posts).

To be honest, I think that I will eventually fade out the fashion posts completely. Don’t get me wrong, I still love to shop and talk about modesty, but my blog’s main theme is helping women find their identity and worth in Christ.

I’ve been  blogging for two years now, and I have grown so much. This blog is my baby, and I am so thankful that God has used me to influence and encourage my readers. I can’t wait to see what the Lord has in store for the future!

My Advice to New Bloggers

1. Have a Passion and a Plan.

Make sure you have something you are passionate enough to write about–whether it be faith, fashion, travel, health, crafts, etc. Of course you can write about more than one topic, but overdoing it can also be pretty stressful.

It’s important to have quality posts over quantity. Take your time with your drafts and make sure to practice your writing! Pinterest has tons of ideas for new bloggers on how to set up a new blog and write successful posts. Blogging takes time, energy, and patience. The more you put into it, the more you will see the results.

2. Embrace Community

I had no idea how supportive the blogging community could be until my Grandma died and some amazing bloggers posted for me while I grieved. In fact, the only reason I got this award is because of a blogging friend who nominated me.

We are all in this together, and can help each other grow. The best thing you can do as a new blogger is to read other blogs you are interested in (and that are similar to yours) and leave thoughtful comments. Share other blogger’s work and join Facebook groups. This will help you build a loyal following.

Liebster Award + Announcement!

liebster 2

Hello lovely readers and followers! Today is a very special Friday because I have two announcements:

  1. I am honored to be a contributing author for Rethink, a website that challenges thinking on God, the church, and culture. You can find my first post here.
  2. I’ve been nominated for my third Liebster Award!

Fellow blogger and friend Courtney from 1 Timothy 4:12 Girl has nominated me for this Liebster Award. She is a Christian blogger who is very passionate about her faith and is super sweet. Please check out her blog when you get the chance 🙂

The rules are

  1. Answer the 11 questions you are provided with by the person who nominated you.
  2. Nominate 11 new bloggers who have less than 500 followers.
  3. Post the Liebster award to your blog.

The questions are

1.What is the funniest thing that has happened to you?

I’m sure that this isn’t the funniest thing to happen to me, but it is incredible. I absolutely HATE running, but one year in high school my friends tried to convince me to join track with them. I even went to track practice to watch them and took the forms home. Of course I never filled them out or went back, but somehow I ended up on the roster anyway…with perfect attendance! Just to be funny, I went with my friends to where the coach was handing out awards. I thought I should get one for my perfect attendance, but sadly I didn’t :p

2. What is your dream job?

A writer (guess I’m on my way!) and a Christian counselor.

3. What is your favorite song and why?

My favorite songs change by my mood and what’s going on in my life. Currently I’m loving:

UnsteadyVitamin String Quartet tribute to X Ambassadors.

This song rocks, but string instruments take it to a new soulful level. I’m going through a hard time right now with my Grandma being very ill, so I can relate with the unsteadiness of life.

Gracious TempestHillsong Young and Free (This song is incredible).

4. Do you have any pets and if so what are they like?

IMG_0037

This is Luna Belle. She’s a fat cat who loves Bibles, pens, and taking up half of my bed. She’s very chatty and sassy ^_^ I also have a shy parakeet named Sunny Dee.

5. Are you a night owl or early bird? How early do you wake up or how late do you stay up?

I’m a night owl for sure (a very common family trait). That is also when I am my most creative. I try to go to sleep by midnight, but that can be hard. I normally wake up between 8:30-9:00am in the summer, but when fall semester starts I will have to wake up earlier.

6. When you were little did you have imaginary friends? What were they like?

I had major crushes on Freddie from Scoobie Doo and Batman when I was a little girl. They were also my imaginary boyfriends lol.

7. What is your favorite food? And your favorite dessert?

I love breakfast food, and I have an obsession for peanut butter. Ice cream is my favorite dessert, followed by s’mores.

8.  What are your beliefs?

I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and died on the cross to save me from my sins. He is my Lord and Savior. I believe in the power of grace, and that God’s grace is the only thing that can truly free us. I believe that everyone has beauty in them, and that they are worth trying to save. I believe in being strong when everything is falling apart. I believe in being kind–even to those who don’t deserve it. I believe in hugs. And I believe that God can work miracles–even today.

9. What are the things you stand for?

Jesus Christ, the Gospel, faith, love, mercy, grace, freedom, and truth.

10. What is the most important character trait in someone?

Honesty. If someone can be honest with themselves and others, then it opens the door to communication, trust, and respect. Honesty also keeps us humble.

11. Who is your role model in life?

Of course Jesus Christ is the one I strive to be most like. An earthly role model would be my Mother, who lives and breathes with strength and grace.

Quote Challenge~Day 3 (Hebrews 6:19)

Hello lovely readers and followers! It’s Day 3 of the Quote challenge–where I post my favorite quotes and nominate other bloggers for 3 days. Today is the final quote, so I thought it would be fitting to share one of my favorite Bible verses with you!

1470098823293

There are obviously so many great Bible verses to choose from, but Hebrews 6:19 really speaks to my life. Even though I have suffered from anxiety and depression, as well as health issues, God has always been my anchor. When I failed to love myself or see myself as worthy of love, God showed me how much He loved me by Jesus’ death on the cross.

Hope is what gets me through the bad days. I know that with God I can do anything. Life isn’t automatically some walk in the park when you become a Christian, but at least I know that God will always be by my side. I know that my hope is secure in the only anchor I need–Jesus Christ.

My Nominations for Day 3:
You are under no obligation to undertake this challenge, but it would be great fun if you do that.
Rules:
  1. 3 quotes, one a day or all 3 quotes on the same day.
  2. You have to nominate three bloggers to undertake this challenge for each quote posted.
  3. Thank the person who nominated you.
  4. Inform your nominees.

Thanks for reading!  As always, please feel free to comment and share 🙂

Quote Challenge~Day 2 (James Dean)

Hello lovely readers and followers! It’s Day 2 of the Quote challenge–where I post my favorite quotes and nominate other bloggers for 3 days.

1470096615099

Today’s quote is by the late Hollywood actor, James Dean. To be honest, I’ve never seen any of his movies. However, I always thought he was cute as a teen and still have a picture of him in my room with this quote!

When I first heard this quote, I loved how it encouraged me to dream impossible dreams. I am a dreamer at heart, and that’s probably why I love to write. But I want to be more than just a dreamer. I want to take my dreams and make them a reality.

Living as if you’ll die tomorrow is kind of a #yolo quote. When I was younger I thought it meant that I should be having fun, traveling the world, and doing crazy amazing things. While all of that is good and should be pursued to a degree, I’ve learned that there is so much more to living life to the fullest.

As someone who suffers from IBS and POTS, my life has roadblocks. Currently I can’t work  or drive, and that sucks. I am a full time student, youth leader, and blogger, but of course the perfectionist in me often won’t let that be enough.

I’m just so thankful that my God says it’s enough. There’s nothing I can do to make Him love me any more or less (Romans 8:38). The grace of Jesus Christ is enough to satisfy me even in my trials.

And you know what? My life is so full. Sure I might not be out traveling the world or partying like crazy, but I am making an impact for Christ. I am so blessed to be a youth leader and help students who inspire me everyday. I am so blessed to be able to write to you on this blog–pouring out my heart and giving encouragement.

I also have lots of family and friends who are always by my side, through good times and bad. I am having lots of fun with them this summer!

My point is this: Keep dreaming because that revives your soul. Always know that living a full life is more than what you can do, it’s about who you impact for good. If you want to live an awesome life, keep dreaming and seek God’s heart for others.

My Nominations for Day 2:
You are under no obligation to undertake this challenge, but it would be great fun if you do that.
Rules:
  1. 3 quotes, one a day or all 3 quotes on the same day.
  2. You have to nominate three bloggers to undertake this challenge for each quote posted.

Thanks for reading! Stay tuned for Day 3! As always, please feel free to comment and share 🙂
