My First Experience at Chic-Fil-A!

Hello lovely readers and followers! Today is foodie Friday (at least for this post). We just got a Chic-Fil-A where I Iive, and it’s so packed! The line is so long it wraps around two buildings!

I heard that they’re a Christian company, and my siblings (who live in the south) say the food is addicting. So last weekend my Mom and I braved the crowd and waited in line for 20 minutes for our food!

The line really didn’t seem that long to be honest. The staff was really nice and directed the traffic well. I ordered their original Chic-Fil-A sandwich (without pickle, bleh!).  And of course, their famous waffle fries!

The food was really good! It was the best chicken sandwich I ever had, and it was super big. The fries were very tasty and not greasy. It really wasn’t like fast food at all.

A close-up of the waffle fries–because #FriesBeforeGuys 😉

Although I may not be going back until it gets less popular (if that’s even possible), I will be eating there again! I can see myself getting addicted, but I think next time I’ll try the grilled chicken nuggets.

Thanks for reading! I hope you all enjoyed this random review. My friends liked my pictures so much I thought it would be fun to blog about.

The Lie of the Good Enough Christian

Most of the time my Instagram feed is filled with posts about fashion and food (which are two things  I am very passionate about). However, there are posts that really make you stop and think wow, I really needed that.

I wanted to share one of these posts from @cultureandgod with you today.

Do you ever feel like God is unapproachable? Maybe you’ve repented of your sins and asked Jesus to be your Lord and Savior. Now what? How do I become a good enough Christian? How do I prove myself worthy to God?

The simple truth is that you can’t. Sorry to all of my fellow recovering perfectionists out there, but you will never be  good enough to earn salvation. None of us are.

That’s okay, Jesus has us covered. When you realized He died on the cross for you and accepted His Lordship, you were washed in His blood. God no longer sees your sins. When He looks at you, He sees you through the eyes of perfect love.

But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ (Ephesians 2:13 NKJV).

Isn’t that freeing? You don’t have to perform or try to earn God’s love. He’s already defeated sin and death. That just really amazes me. I don’t need to be a good enough Christian because I have a better than life Savior!

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new (2 Corinthians 5:17 NKJV).

Maybe you’re a new Christian, or maybe you’ve been a part of God’s family for decades. Wherever you are in your walk with the Lord, remember that you are now resurrected with Him.

God’s salvation power did not stop at the cross. He conquered the grave–which includes all of the chains that once held you and me back from Him.

You, my lovely reader, can be free from the chains of shame and perfectionism. Just lean on the only God who gave His perfect self in order to win His precious child back.

October Style~Edgy Cardigans

Happy Friday lovely readers and followers! To all of my readers in Florida and South Carolina who are going through Hurricane Matthew, my prayers are with you. I have family down south, but fortunately they live inland. I hope you all stay safe!

Today’s post is dedicated to my edgy Mossimo Cardigan from Target! I am absolutely obsessed with this beauty. I stumbled upon it on accident while searching for a dress to wear to my Grandma’s funeral. I guess that’s what Target does to you. I always walk in intending to buy one thing and walk out with something else 🙂

As you can see, the cardigan is a moto jacket style with pointed ends. It is a little shorter in the back and very flattering. The sleeves are nice and long, and it fits true to size. I love pairing it with a simple tee and some fall boots!

The cardigan also came in black, but I loved the white because of the black and grey speckles of fabric woven in. It is a very subtle, yet edgy texture that really adds dimension. The cardigan is thick, like a light jacket. It’s great for those chilly fall mornings and warmer afternoons.

I hope you liked this review! Cardigans and boots are my addiction right now (especially in burgundy). I’m thinking of doing a style post on some of my boots next. What do you think of that? Let me know in the comments below!

The Moment Your Story Begins

I don’t know about you, but I think a lot of life goes by unnoticed. We get so busy and distracted, that the little things are often ignored. Normally our major problems and stresses take up so much of our mental energy, that life’s blessings just don’t seem to really register.

Now we all go through dark seasons, and this isn’t me just trying to tell you to be thankful and get over the bad times like they aren’t real. Life happens. I get it, and so does Jesus. In fact, you can take all of your burdens to Him (1 Peter 5:7).

Through all of the drama and stress of living, have you ever wondered if God is even there? Maybe He seems distant or hard to get a hold of. Maybe it feels like God doesn’t even love you anymore.

I get the struggle, and I’m pretty sure there isn’t a Christian alive who can’t sympathize with this. I just want to remind you that He is there. God may seem distant, but the sun and moon are also distant, yet we know they exist as guiding lights in our ever changing world.

We may not be able to see all that God is doing in our lives right now, and things may turn out different than we hoped or planned for them to. However, God has a vision that extends way beyond our own. He can see into all eternity. He knows the past, the present, and the future. He is the God who was and is and is to come (Revelation 4:8).

This concept can be best understood by looking at the Old Testament. By itself it is almost, well…unfinished. Here the people of God are left waiting and hoping for the promised Messiah to save them from their sins and deliver them from the burden of the Law. Then God showed up–sending His Son Jesus to save the world by dying on a cross (John 3:16).

God could see the end even from the beginning, and we are a part of the story!

If you ever think for a moment that God doesn’t love you, please know that you can’t be further from the truth. Jesus paid the ultimate price for you out of love–not force. There is nothing you can do to earn salvation. Jesus has done it all. What God really wants is a humble and repentant heart who desires to put Him first.

Yes, there will be failures and unexpected plot twists in our lives, but like any good story that is all part of the master plan. So don’t ignore those little moments of life. Don’t ignore the storms God uses to build and shape your character. Don’t ignore the blessings God brings to let you know He’s still there. He’s not finished yet. In fact, the moment you choose Jesus is the moment your story truly begins.

Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God (Hebrews 12:1-2 NKJV).

Outfit Inspiration: Lace Up Details

Laces and ties are everywhere right now. Even though they might not always look modest, they can be altered to suit your needs. The key is choosing pieces that have a layer of fabric or slip underneath the lace, or pieces that have tight laces (like the purple top above). Another modesty hack would be to wear a camisole underneath a tied blouse to keep it classy (like the tan sweater above).

This trend is fun because it adds texture and dimension to an outfit without using patterns or loud colors. It also gives that western bohemian vibe. Perfect for a fall bonfire!
