Summer Crochet + God’s Awesome Story

Happy Friday lovely readers and followers! I want to take a few moments to thank everyone who wished me a happy birthday this week. I am now twenty-three years old, and feel as if I’m on the starting line of some awesome changes and life adventures.

I always thought that being a teenager was supposed to be the best part of life. Even with the freedom and naivety of adolescence, I still think that the wisdom and relationship I have with Jesus now has opened the door to even more freedom.

Don’t get me wrong–I’m still far from having everything figured out. But I know deep inside that I’ll never have it all figured out. Only God can see the whole picture of our lives.

The worship pastor at my church gave me some really good advice this week. He told me to keep seeking and praising God and live without fear of the future. If we keep chasing after God, then when we look back at our lives, all of the things in life that don’t make sense right now will come together to create an awesome story.

I know that my story is just beginning, and I’m excited to see what God has in store for my future.

In the meantime…let’s talk fashion! I don’t think there’s a better summer staple when it comes to fabrics than crochet. It’s light and airy, yet still textured enough to make a statement. I’m a decent knitter, but I can’t wrap my head around how people can loop yarn into these beautiful designs and patterns with their hooks.

Crochet is everywhere this season, bordering the hems of blouses or showing up on bags and sandals. You can wear it as a pop of color, or in the traditional summer white. Don’t be afraid to mix things up and wear crochet patterns that are in the form of flowers or other girly designs. I also think a crochet cardigan makes the perfect summer cover-up to any dress or swimsuit. Crochet is definitely a trend you can experiment with in a playful, yet classy way.

for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose. (Philippians 2:13 NIV)

Off-the-Shoulder Fashion Hacks

Happy Friday lovely readers and followers! I know, my fashion posts have not been consistent lately. I thought that since I’m on summer break, I would have more time to get blogging done. Well, life knows how to keep me busy. But I can’t complain because I have been able to spend some awesome time with my family and friends despite everything. I promise to make more of an effort in the future!

I think that Christian women tend to panic when the summer trends roll out. Crop tops, short-shorts, bikinis…oh my! I find that most trends can either be skipped or adapted no problem, and there’s one trend this season in particular that I want to discuss.

Off-the-Shoulder tops.

I know this trend may be controversial to some Christians, as shoulders are seen as immodest by some. Just to be clear, I am not judging your beliefs in modesty here. If you have different convictions than me, that’s totally cool. If you want to know more about my views on modesty, check out this post.

That being said, I think that women who like to keep things modest can totally rock an off-the-shoulder top in a classy way. These blouses are feminine and keep you cool in warmer temperatures. They also highlight a very flattering (and appropriate) part of the body on any woman. I think that floral print tops in bohemian shapes are perfect for summer. Use dashes of the color red to make a statement as you rock this trend.

Still not sure how to rock this look? See below!

Tips For Wearing Off-the-Shoulder Tops

  • Make sure to try on the blouse to make sure it isn’t too low cut. Only you know what looks best on your body.
  • Choose a top with thick straps if you need extra coverage.
  • Make sure to wear a strapless bra to keep things classy.
  • Since you are highlighting your shoulders and arms more, create balance by wearing long pants or a longer skirt.
  • Ask yourself, does this outfit make me look like a royal daughter of God? If so, then go for it!

I hope that you found these tips helpful! There is no need to fear a cute summer wardrobe. With a little adaptation and discernment, you can look cute and still glorify God.

For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s. (1 Corinthians 6:20 NKJV)

Outfit Inspiration: Maxi Dress Madness

Hello everyone! I hope you’ve been enjoying all of the fashion posts. My apologies for some of the emails you may have gotten that were not supposed to be sent out. They were only rough drafts of the collages I am working on. I’m still learning the ins and outs of Polyvore :3

Speaking of which, today’s collage is all about maxi dresses! They are the kind of dresses that you can either make casual or formal by the accessories you pair with them.

Today’s maxi dresses are all about prints! Tribal, chevron, and floral designs are beautiful patterns for a flowy dress. This week challenge yourself to wear a maxi dress or skirt for some feminine summer fun!

Outfit Inspiration: Crochet Details

Happy Monday! Okay, I know that most of us dread Mondays, but right now I feel grateful just for being able to do the everyday tasks of life.

My heart is broken over the tragic shooting in Orlando, and the victims and their families are in my prayers. God’s children were brutally attacked and killed, and it is deeply disturbing. But He will make all things new, and bring justice to earth (Revelation 21:5).

Although nothing can ease the pain of this tragedy, maybe a fashion collage can provide a positive momentary  distraction. This day’s theme: Crochet!

I think that crochet details will always be a summer staple. They add a delicate and bohemian touch to any outfit. White crochet and mint fabric make an excellent combination!

You can also wear crochet in unique ways, such as accessories or paired with lace.

Have a great week everyone! Let’s remember to shine a light in these dark times with our love.

Outfit Inspiration: Pineapple Print

What’s the print that’s everywhere this summer? Pineapples! Every Sponge Bob fan’s dream has now come true haha.

Try wearing this print on a vintage tee or dress, or more subtly on a tote bag or jewelry.
